]]>We are fun! While we are professional, we don't take ourselves too seriously and like to laugh and be creative. We are all just a bunch of big kids flying big kites, after all. We want our customers/students to have fun, to shake off the willies and just be relaxed and excited about their discovery of flight, as we've found that the best learning happens when you're having fun.
We are flexible. We teach year round, 7 days a week (weather permitting), and we can work with you to accommodate your schedule.
We are distributors! We are distributors of paragliding, speedflying and paramotor products, so we can find you the best gear when you are ready. While you are first learning, we use practically new equipment to teach you on. Fresh equipment makes a big difference in the safety and ease of learning.
Hours of airtime. Team Flystyle pilots offer hours of hands-on airtime. This opportunity exists through around 3-10 instructional tandem flights (depending on the customer/student's needs). Tandem instruction is our specialty, and is an integral component of our training program and essential for the developing pilot. Students more readily absorb and understand flight aspects with an instructor by their side giving crucial feedback at the correct moments.
Once you’ve got the gear and the training, paragliding is essentially free. There are no required additional costs to continue in the sport: no flights to skydiving altitude, no fuel, no storage costs for the equipment (as it fits in a closet). While you may find yourself traveling to explore lots of far-flung sites, paragliding is one of the most cost-effective sports on the planet — far more so than its awesomeness would suggest.

The 18-26m² sizes have EN-A weight ranges and are suitable for beginners, and EN-B ranges when flown more heavily loaded; the 14 and 16m² are for pros, with B, C or D certification depending on wing loading.
AirDesign made this speed chart, to help pilots choose the right size for their level and intended use.
AirDesign say this fourth generation has more balanced handling, even better launch behaviour and better stability on full bar than previous versions, and it now has a B/C steering system.
The Susi 4 is made from double-coated Porcher Skytex 27 with the water-resistant Edelrid 8001/U unsheathed lines throughout. Wing weights start at 1.95kg for the 14 with superlight risers, rising to 3.33kg for the 26 with Aramid risers.
The superlight riser set comes as standard on the 14 and 16m² sizes; the larger sizes are delivered with the 12mm Aramid set but the alternative riser set can be ordered for any size.

]]>AirDesign Gliders has just moved the goal post once more for other paraglide manufacturers, with their brand new version of their single-surface paraglider called the UFO. It's one of the lightest wings ever made with an unparalleled EN-B* certification.
]]>It's available in 13, 14, 16, 18 and 20m² sizes. The 16 was first to be certified, for a weight range of 50-90kg. In that size it’s just 1.59kg, and can be packed down very small thanks to the nitinol rods which spring back into shape after being deformed. The UFO AirPack the wing is supplied in can be folded and strapped in half after packing, so it fits easily into a day pack.
It’s made from double-coated Porcher Skytex 27 and has an inflated section on the leading edge. All the seams are doubled with etching tape on the edges to add robustness. The lines are unsheathed, colour-coded Aramid. A Mylar border band reinforces the leading and trailing edges and gives structural and behavioural consistency.

It saddens us tremendously when a pilot places an order for a wing in June with the intention of using it that summer. Oftentimes manufacturers are backordered in June, because their focus is to fulfill orders placed months prior.
Typically manufactures experience an uptick in orders placed January - March, like ski sales go up September - November. Trying to get the gear you want in the middle of the season can be difficult, especially if you wanted something that is in high demand.
However, unlike most ski manufacturers which produce a fixed number of skis per year, most paragliding gear is made to order. Manufacturers can typically produce a wing in just a couple of weeks if they don't have a pile of backorders or supply issues.
How It All Works
After a paraglide manufacturer has finished making the product(s) and it's ready to ship, the package goes on a fun journey across the globe (typically from Asia or Europe) and arrives in the U.S. via DHL or some other international shipping company.
Once in the great old USA, the package must clear customs and any import tariffs or duties must be paid. Sometimes the package gets hung up in customs for whatever reason, but it usually takes about 1 week. Once the package clears customs it is then shipped to Flystyle and on to customers after items are verified.
In rare cases, manufacturers can become back ordered on certain materials or products for about 3 months. That really sucks if you need the gear right away.
Order Your Gear Before March 31st
Order early to insure that you get the gear you need for your next flying season. In the Northwest we encourage pilots to order their gear between Jan 1st - March 31st to make sure that it will be ready by the start of the season.
